| Darrell
D. Reber, 69, lost his valiant 9-month fight against Leukemia
on September 7, 2005 at his home in Kent, Washington. He was
born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, grew up in Rudolph on the family
dairy farm, graduated from North Dakota State University on
a full basketball scholarship, began a career with the US Air
Force, and was stationed all over the country. Darrell wore
many different hats during his eventful life: he was a Captain
in the Air Force for nine years and flew KC-135 tanker combat
missions in the Vietnam War, he farmed for 10 years in Northfield,
Minnesota; built three of their family homes; flew for 25 years
with Northwest Airlines, finishing his career as a 747 Captain.
In 1978 he moved to Kent, WA to build his final house and joined
the Meridian Valley Golf Club. Here he started a small horse
boarding business that grew into Reber Ranch Country Store on
the East Hill of Kent and he founded Animal Supply Company,
wholesale distribution company with warehouses in Washington,
Oregon, and California. However, his most treasured hat to wear
was that of devoted husband, dedicated dad, and loving grandpa.
He will be dearly missed by all the many people whose lives
he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret
and Herman and his sister
Geraldine. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Sally;
his brothers Harlan, Alan, and Jack and sisters Jeannette
and Diane; his children and their spouses Randy (Meryl), Scott
(Joan), and Todd (Janelle); and his four grandchildren Megan,
Michael, Tyler and Nicole.
